About Antioquia Tourism

By the time they told me “Medellin is a beautiful city,” I was working as a waitress on board a cruise ship, and I thought it wasn’t my hometown.

Year after year when I returned to enjoy my vacations, I discovered among its streets and nearby towns, parallel to the development of the city, wonderful places, landscapes not seen before and friendly, simple and humble people, who with the products and services they offered, showed the strength, pride in one’s own, the desire to get ahead and survive despite a country where situations of inequality, violence, drug trafficking, corruption and numerous social problems have prevented the gradual growth of communities.

That excitement and happiness when getting to know new places, rural communities with their cultures and traditions, natural landscapes never seen in other places in the world that I visited, developed the passion and pride of being from Antioquia, as well as the vocation of tourist and traveler that gave me identifies.

My name is Mónica Victoria Giraldo Cardona, born in Medellín on October 18, 1975. My father is from Támesis, Antioquia. My mother was born in Sonsón, Antioquia. Food Engineer by profession which I practiced for 14 years. Sociable, optimistic, cheerful, with the ability to relate to different groups, lead projects and work with and for the community.

For some years now I have wanted to show foreign and local tourists, through our destinations, the greatest benefits and the unparalleled experience of living and sharing with the community, touring its wonderful landscapes.
